Trisha and Family

Donation protected

Our names are Zack and Mekaela. Our mom Trisha was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2010. She got a double mastectomy and received chemo + radiation for 4 years. Her tests came back negative for any signs of cancer.  We all jumped for joy because this meant that our mom was in remission.  That was until a doctor’s visit in 2015 when it was revealed that the scar tissue on her back contained some live cancer cells. Once again our mom found herself fighting this horrible disease.

In early 2019 her dad, our grandfather, Jack passed away. Then just a few months later we found out that the cancer in our mom’s back had traveled through her scar tissue into her spinal fluid. From there it went into her brain causing 50 little tumors all over, and 3 main tumors on the Cerebellum and Spinal Cord. The rapid growth and location was causing her body to shut down, but the doctors still tried to treat the 3 large tumors with radiation. Unfortunately, during her recovery after treatment, a horrible infection developed and took her away from us.  On July 26, 2019, Trisha Ann Bergman lost her fight against breast cancer.

Her last wishes were to have her ashes spread in her beloved garden beds that she plant each year.  Plus, she wanted a celebration of life to be held at the family home in Tahoe, with loved ones and friends eating tacos and dancing to reggae. She was an amazing mother, great friend, and truly an inspiration to anyone who met her.

We started this GoFundMe due to the aggressiveness of her disease. Prior to her passing, our mom was unable to complete all the legal paperwork that should have been in place. We have depleted both our savings to help pay for the expenses that have piled up. The house means a lot to us. Our grandpa Jack built the house in 1963. It was the third house on the block next to the Woons’. We would be heartbroken to lose something to the state with so much family history and future family memories. Due to the situation and age of the house, it needs a lot work. We are no longer able to keep up with the mortgage, repairs, car payment, lawyer, and bills since her passing.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for considering a donation. Any amount is appreciated and no amount is too small. Please feel free to share our link to help with our cause. If you were close to, or knew our mother, and would like more details about the Celebration of Life event, please send an email to [email redacted].
