Helping Eugene after Yumi's sudden passing
On August 19, 2021, the world tragically and suddenly lost a true angel, Yumi Kageyama Refino, at a young age of just 25 in a horrible car accident.
Yumi was one of the most caring, loving, thoughtful, smart, and impactful people that many were blessed to have known and call a friend. She was a pillar of the community and was always thinking about and helping others.
Her newlywed husband, Eugene Refino, has been left devastated by the sudden loss of his amazing wife, best friend, life partner, and business partner. Eugene and Yumi were just recently married in May 2021 after a long relationship together, and were looking forward to having the rest of their long lives together before Yumi was suddenly taken from all of us. Yumi and Eugene shared a tight bond like no other.
Yumi accomplished many things in her short time here on earth. In 2016, Yumi and Eugene started Risen Tae Kwon Do school together in Malta, NY, and have been beloved role models of many young children ever since. Yumi and Eugene love their TKD students and families with all of their hearts. Yumi and Eugene have consistently gone above and beyond in helping the community and families around them.
The family and friends of Eugene and Yumi would like to help Eugene begin to pick up the pieces of his shattered world.
Please join us in helping support our friend, Eugene, in Yumi's memory and honor. Your donations will help cover the unforeseen expenses and the financial burden left to Eugene after Yumi's sudden passing, especially during the sudden and temporary halt of their Tae Kwon Do classes during this time of deep mourning and loss.
Your donations will help Eugene focus on what matter's most - continuing Yumi's memory and the mission they started together through their Tae Kwon Do school. We want to help him continue the path that they had started together, making a difference in so many children's lives.
Any donation amount will help us reach our goal to help Eugene.
Even if you are not in the financial position to make a monetary donation, just sharing this "Go Fund Me" link with family and friends will make a huge impact.
Eugene would never expect or ask for financial help from anyone, yet he is always the first one to show up and help when others need him (Yumi was the same way). Let's be there for Eugene during this time when he needs it the most.
