I am running the Middlesbrough 10k to support CHUF who have been a huge support to little Evie G! Her mum Chloe has shared what the charity means to the family -

CHUF are an amazing charity and I have been a supporter since my daughter Evie was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. I fundraised myself many times as I knew how crucial their support is for kids with a heart condition. Unfortunately, I knew that Evie’s condition was not great and that a transplant was likely but we were lucky to get a few years at home beforehand.

She has been in hospital since February 2023 waiting for the gift of a new heart. She has battled end stage heart failure, a cardiac arrest, her life support failing and many severe infections which one led to sepsis and septic shock which can kill a lot of people. Evie has battled like a trooper but the truth is she needs a new heart to live.

CHUF have funded so much play and activity for Evie and other poorly kids in hospital. They have music therapy every week, a music class for the little ones, they fund the clown doctor programme which has been a huge part of our journey as Evie adores them so much, they do movie night every week with food that is paid for by CHUF. They help families and the nurses with treats on occasions and so much more. They are a hidden treasure because they are based at the Freeman Hospital which is a predominantly adult hospital but the kids ward get treated amazingly considering a lot of children funds go to the RVI.
