Laurel's National Youth Leadership
Doação protegida
My name is Laurel Johnson and I am 17 year old junior attending V. Sue Cleveland High School. I have been taking the Cyber Patriot course that was brought in my freshman year for that last three years. The program was created by the US Armed forces to create the next generation of Cyber Security experts.
Currently, I am one of three girls in the Cyber Patriot program. I would like to see more girls in the program and other things related to STEM. I find Cyber Patriot very exciting and it is my hope that it will provide me with many job opportunities as I learn more and more skills through the Cyber Patriot program. I realize that during this day and age we are having cyber warfare going on daily in most businesses. Cyber Patriot helps those in the program understand the basics of defending a computer against hacking. Cyber Patriot also gives you a real life scenario on how to help protect computers against hackers for real life business. Since cyber security is my dream job, Cyber Patriot will help me get ahead of the game and will send me on the right path to achieve my dream.
Recently I received a nomination to attend the fall 2015 National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): National Security – Diplomacy, Intelligence & Defense. NYLF National Security is a career fair, I will meet with representatives from government and private companies as well as service academies to learn about future opportunities and ask one-on-one questions about education paths, employment requirements, and industry trends to get a realistic picture of your future. I will also gain insight from top professionals in the field through career site experiences that allow you to see diplomacy, intelligence and defense operations in action. The U.S. Department of State, The CIA, The Pentagon, The National Security Agency and The United States Institute of Peace are some places that I might get to visit.
Since cyber security is my dream job Cyber Patriot will help me get ahead of the game and will send me on the right path to achieve my dream.
I am hoping to raise $2500 to cover the cost of the program and I would greatly appreciate your willingness to sponsor me. If you can sponsor me, and after I return, I would like to set up a time to discuss what I learned and how I may be of service to repay your kindness. I am also hoping to secure an internship with the FBI, Sandia National Labs or anywhere that will help me futher develop my skills so that I can defend against cyber threats.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
