How To See Kathmandu

Spende geschützt
‘How to See Kathmandu’ is a zine that emerged from the first week of a non-fiction visual storytelling workshop in Nepal.

The project seeks to explore the diversity of daily life across Kathmandu. This resulted in an experimental zine produced by 15 students in response to our immersion into neighbourhoods across the city.

As storytellers we are mindful of the potentially one-sided nature of non-fiction projects. To avoid this, we want to produce something that we could share with the community in an attempt to ‘close the loop’.

Following our initial limited publication, our goal is to extend the project and produce a refined version of 'How to See Kathmandu' that can be distributed back into the community to establish a dialogue.

In order to print 500 copies we need to raise $1500 by December 16th. Your contribution will enable us to transform our images into a conversation.

In addition to print, we are producing a website that will follow a similarly experimental structure that fosters interaction.

Follow us on Instagram @howtoseekathmandu and the hashtags #howtoseektm, #teamnonfiction, #nepalphotoproject to keep up to date with our progress.

This work is and will be produced in collaboration with students between four schools: RMIT (Melbourne, Australia), QCA Griffith University (Brisbane, Australia), Pathshala South Asian Media Institute (Dhaka, Bangladesh) and Photo Circle (Kathmandu, Nepal).
