Hope for Charlotte-Theresa: Urgent Medical Help Needed

Our beautiful daughter, Charlotte-Theresa, was born on February 15, 2025, at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI). From the very beginning, she has been fighting for her life.

Charlotte was diagnosed at birth with severe thrombocytopenia—a dangerously low platelet count. While the normal range for newborns is 150,000 to 450,000 platelets per microliter, Charlotte’s count was only 10,000. This puts her at constant risk of spontaneous bleeding, including intracranial hemorrhaging (bleeding in the brain), which can be life-threatening or cause permanent brain damage.

She has been hospitalized continuously since birth, requiring platelet transfusions at least twice a week, along with regular plasma and blood transfusions to keep her stable. Charlotte has already received over 25 doses of IV Immunoglobulin (IVIG)—a critical and costly medication priced at $500 USD per dose—and she will need additional doses in the coming weeks.

Despite the dedication and efforts of the medical team at UHWI, the resources and diagnostic tools available locally are limited. The doctors have not been able to determine the underlying cause of her condition. They have strongly recommended that she be taken overseas for advanced testing and treatment—testing that is not currently available in Jamaica.

As her parents, we are doing everything in our power to keep Charlotte alive and give her a chance at a healthy, happy life. But after months of constant medical care, we have exhausted our financial resources.

We are now reaching out to you—our community, family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers—for help. We urgently need funds to:

• Access specialized diagnostic tests to find the root cause of her condition

• ❤️‍ Begin appropriate treatment once a diagnosis is confirmed
