Hi Friends!
First, we'd like to thank everyone who has been kind enough to contribute and share Honesty's story. You've all played a vital role in helping make this go fund me campaign a success!
Secondly, we'd like to share with you some great news! Three months after his 3-story fall, Honesty has just learned that he will now be able to bare weight on his left leg! It's an important milestone for sure and while we are grateful for this news there is still quite a ways to go.
After the initial surgery to his right foot, one month after the surgery to his left; the right has been a constant source of setbacks and will subsequently take much more time to recover. The threat of amputation may be over but there is still a great deal of worry.
With many trips back and forth between the hospital and skilled nursing home where he's been residing since his accident, it was discovered that he has contracted a infection which has spread throughout the bones in his foot.
Honesty has spent the last three weeks in the hospital and has another procedure scheduled for next Tuesday, March 17th. And just yesterday, he had the third of several surgeries to clean up the tissue and bones of the infected area in which they pack the infected area with antibiotic beads. All the while, he is on a heavy rotation of antibiotics around the clock through a catheter that feeds from his right bicep directly to his heart. This will continue over the next 8 to 10 weeks.
This would be a lot to handle for anyone but he's in terrific spirits and credits his positive outlook to the constant outpouring of support from family and friends. Especially, those who've been able to visit since his accident.
While he may not yet be able to go home, he is excited to begin rehab on his left side. Learning to walk again will be tough for sure but he's excited about it! His Doctor has said "luckily you will walk - but you may not run." He clearly doesn't know how determined Honesty is!
Thank you for your support, and please keep sharing.
