Housing Formerly Homeless LGBTQIA Folks
Don protégé
Hello, my name is Levi Giafaglione. I started working in homeless services about 4 years ago, inspired by my battle with homelessness. While many factors contribute to homelessness, there is only one valid solution: a home. Once a homeless person receives housing, they are no longer homeless; it's as simple as that.
San Diego's housing shortage creates unaffordable market rents to most of its residents. 1/5 LGBTQIA people experience housing discrimination, and 1/5 LGBTQIA people experience homelessness before age 25. While our housing inventory may be in dire straits, we know our community and that our community perseveres.
We can eliminate so many barriers by purchasing a home in San Diego for community-based housing. By operating under the fair housing act and owning a multi-family property, we will be able to create the stability our community so needs. Our homes will be designed with space-saving and security in mind. Each site will also have a house manager who has lived through the struggle. Living in one of our homes will also give tenants time to build positive credit & rental history.
