My unborn child has a condition called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, this condition is caused by a birth defect where the muscle separating the chest cavity from the abdominal organs does not form. This lack of separation does not allow proper room for the growth of the baby's lungs and requires corrective surgery immediately at birth. This was extremely unexpected because, until an ultrasound examining the growth of baby Koda's organs, the pregnancy had been healthy and normal.
