Hello dear friends, family and supporters of Heidi R!
It has been one year since we started the Go Fund Me campaign “Hand Up for Heidi R.” How the world has changed! I would like to update you on how Heidi and her sons are doing.
With the arrival of the COVid-19 pandemic just weeks after this campaign started, the search for employment has become increasingly difficult for Heidi—as it has for so many others during this period of time. Financial stress compounded with daily duties of “case management Mom,” Heidi—in caring for her 2 sons with ASD/Asperger Syndrome as a single Mom for 25+ years (and continues to)—has more recently developed health concerns.
To overcome this combination of circumstances, Heidi and I became creative—facing ageism in the workplace and the pandemic that has made it the standard, rather than the exception, to virtually work from home--Heidi is now professionally positioned as a personal Virtual Assistant. Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she can serve professionals and individuals across the USA; therefore, titled SSVA – Star-Spangled Virtual Assistant! Our dear friend Heidi really needs your help.
She would not ask for help herself, for this challenge that threatens her and her sons’ well-being, so we, her friends are creating this fund for her. 100% of the donations go directly to Heidi.
As a single mom of 2 sons (diagnosed since their childhood) with Autism Spectrum Disorder/Asperger Syndrome, she has devoted over 25 years of her life to make sure they both are safe, educated to their ability to live their best possible life. A study by UW-Madison has shown that “Mothers of children with autism have stress levels comparable to combat veterans.”
Multiply that by two and for twenty-five years, and you can see why Heidi is deserving of your help.
After being unemployed for over one year and exhausting all of her savings and assistance from Family and friends, Heidi and her sons are facing eviction from their modest apartment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We are determined to see that does not happen! Our goal is to raise $12,000 dollars. This will provide ten months of rent to remedy the situation. Heidi needs this money desperately- time is of the essence.
After working as a "Case Manager" mom—her 24/7 job for over 25 years, Heidi is now hard at work seeking gainful employment in the Hospitality Industry. If you are aware of any hiring opportunities, please reach out to Heidi.
Heidi is a survivor of domestic abuse and divorce. Her sons are survivors of years of bullying at school.
Please be an Angel to Heidi and her sons and extend a “Hand Up” during this difficult time. Your support will provide Heidi a chance to breath, take away the stress, and focus on her job search. She just needs a break. She will be eternally grateful.
