In Loving Memory of Eugene Klak

My father, Eugene Klak, was diagnosed with stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma back in 2008. After going through rigorous chemotheraphy and a bone marrow transplant, he was in remission for 5 years. Unfortunately, in 2013 we received the devastating news that the cancer had came back, the same year he became a grandfather. My father continued to do chemotherapy, and was able to be eligible for a second bone marrow transplant earlier this year. A few weeks before his scheduled transplant, he started having chronic headaches and in May of this year, he had a seizure which uncovered that the cancer had spread to his central nervous system, brain and spinal cord. We were told that the treatment would be more difficult and would take an even greater toll on his body, but he did not want to give up and agreed to continue fighting for his life. The methotrexate chemotherapy lowered his immune system greatly and made him weaker which he was barely able to walk, suffered from infections, and Bells Palsy as well. The cancer in his brain gave him severe pain throughout his body and he eventually lost sight in both eyes. At this point, the cancer grew so rapidly that we were told there was nothing else that could be done to stop it. The doctors told us that he only had a few weeks to live but we were lucky enough to have him for over a month. He passed away on November 18, 2015 at 56-years-old surrounded by his loved ones. Not only are we left without the person who held our family together, but the only source of income we had was his disability along with my part time job. Now we are left with the burden of significant financial devastation as well, and are seeking support from friends and family to help us out with funeral arrangements during this difficult time. Anything would be of great help and we would really appreciate it.
