Cathedral Lacrosse West Point Trip
Donazione protetta
My name is Chad Hadlock (West Point Class of ’98) and I am the varsity lacrosse coach at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, CA. Growing up in San Diego, most of these young men have not had the opportunity to visit and internalize some of our nation's greatest national landmarks. This trip will provide exposure not only to some of this country's most significant historical sites, but also give them an appreciation for the sacrifices and service which compose the foundation of this great nation.
We have coordinated a trip for the team to travel east over Spring Break (18-25 March 2016) to play some great east coast HS teams while touring nationally prominent attractions like West Point, The 9/11 Museum in NYC, and various sites throughout Philadelphia. We are confident that the 35 kids we’ll be taking will have a truly rewarding and educational trip where we will combine top-level athletic endeavor with experiences that will give them a perspective on the history of our great nation and the lengths which our forefathers went to secure our way of life.
We are currently planning on the following itinerary:
18 March: Depart SD, Arrive at USMA, practice on post, staying
19 March:
- 10:00 A.M. Play Yorktown HS (2015 NYS Class B Champions) at West Point (Shea Stadium)
- 12:00 P.M. Attend Army vs Holy Cross/ tailgate with Yorktown players and families
20 March:
- 10:00 A.M. Team Mass at the Catholic Chapel @ West Point
- 11:00 A.M. Tour of West Point
21 March:
- 10:00 A.M. Take the train from Garrison to NYC, visit the 9/11 Museum
- 6:00 P.M. Train to Philadelphia
22 March:
- 11:00 A.M. Play Haverford School (2015 National #1 Ranked Team)
23 March:
- 10:00 A.M. Tour Philadelphia historical attractions
24 March:
- 11:00 A.M. Play Germantown Academy
25 March: Depart Philadelphia, Arrive at SD
Obviously this trip will have a significant cost associated with it for our players and their families. While we are a private school, there are families that would not be able to fully fund their players' cost for this trip. With that in mind, I’ve set up a GoFundMe campaign to solicit help to fund this experience for the team. The cost of taking 35 players, 2 managers, 4 coaches, and 2 security/chaperone personnel will be roughly $1500 per individual, totaling almost $65,000 for the program. The goal of our campaign is to raise at least 50% of the cost of this trip through your support with a cap of $60,000 (any funds received from this campaign will be used exclusively for this trip)
Any amount you can give is greatly appreciated, and we will keep all donors updated on our trip with social media posts throughout the season. Additionally, all supporters are invited to join us on March 19th in Michie Stadium to watch Army Lacrosse play Holy Cross, meet our team, and enjoy the tailgate that will immediately follow our game in Shea Stadium.
Thank you and GO DONS!
