Anthony K. Wanjiku'S FUNERAL AND FAMILY FUND AID
Doação protegida
Anthony and his family had just moved to a new house with a 4-year-old son and another one on the way, when he felt a heavy numbness below his waist which he associated with heavy lifting. After a visit to his GP, he was referred to the main hospital for further analysis and that is where he was diagnosed with gastric cancer in June 2018.
It was decided to go with another alternative route as it was not possible to operate because cancer had progressed too far so he received several bouts of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy at St.Thomas's Hospital.
Anthony started these treatments on the same day his wife Joyce was in the labour ward, while his son Nathan was under the care of their cousin Joseph. Baby David was born but the good news was overshadowed by the illness, but they were soon back under one roof to continue healing.
August 2019 Anthony was informed that the tumors were not shrinking and that was the end of that treatment. It was very devastating. But soon after he was offered a chance to try a new experimental treatment after waiting for the qualifying period. He took on the trials for the next 5 months starting September 2019.
As his energy improved he would walk his son to school and even attend football practiced, he dedicated his time to is wife and children.
This little ray of hope was short-lived as he was informed that the tumors had not changed and there was nothing more the medics could do.
On the 9th of May, his condition worsened and he was rushed and admitted at Queen Elizabeth hospital. He felt a bit better the following day, but due to the pandemic, no one was allowed to visit him.
He got discharged after 7 days on the 16th of May and on the 17th of May 2020 at 1.30 am Antony took his last breath surrounded by his family, and he is peacefully rested.
Nathan(his son) always prayed for his daddy's pain to go away. Anthony was a fighter and he never gave up.

Those who knew Anthony knew that he was a quiet, reserved, kind-hearted, and warm person. Unfortunately his illness has been physically, emotionally and financially draining. He worked for the same employer for over 20 years without missing a day of work, providing for his family both here and in Kenya until this illness.
What happened was a battle of which was bravely fought.
It is God who gives and takes away, As he rests in peace. May God's will be done.
