Hello dear friends,
I am starting this campaign because I have been very blessed in this life, while many people in this world have not been nearly so lucky. Fate orchestrated for me to meet a man, quite by accident, who touched me in a way that I feel a personal desire and responsibility to do what I can to help him in his quest to care for orphaned children in Kampala, Uganda East Africa. Through the ministry that he started, Afrinena Children's Voice, these kids can have a real chance for a meaningful life. That is what this GoFundMe campaign is all about.
OUR STORY
Nearly 1 year ago, I was in Thailand on holiday visiting friends from the old days when I resided there doing volunteer work, traveling and learning heritage handicrafts. On my flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, I was seated next to an African man traveling home with a small group after attending a conference of religious leaders to ponder the multitude of issues facing those caring for orphans in this world. I learned that Mr. Frank is from Uganda and he told me of the children that are in the care of the village church there. Children who have been orphaned in some of the worst ways imaginable: they are casualties of war, violence; they have lost their families to AIDS or other disease, or they have been abandoned because of sheer abject poverty and the inability to care for them.
Mr. Frank is an orphan himself, losing both parents by the age of 5. He was raised by his grandmother who taught him to sing and dance in church as a child. He later went to a teacher's college and taught music there. Music has become his passion and he uses it now as a tool to support orphaned children to learn to help themselves and to minister to others in need in their village. He teaches the children how to sing and dance and lift their beautiful voices to heaven. He and the church have worked tirelessly to help these children to have a safe place to live and to get an education in an environment free of violence. Along with these fundamentals, they are working to develop self-esteem, self-reliance, morality, and faith.
THE CAUSE
Mr. Frank started a children's ministry called the Afrinena Children's Voice ("goodness of Africa") in Uganda in 2009. They started out with 3 orphaned children and now care for around 120 kids because they will not turn away a child in need. They have no permanent location or source of income and rely entirely on donations. The ministry is able to provide accommodations for 50 children but the remaining kids are currently staying with guardians in the community as there is no room for them. The children are able to attend school only as funds are available. My dream for them is that they have their own group home - which will require dedicated land and a building to house enough sleeping quarters for all of them. A multipurpose building that could also serve as a theater for choir practice and performances would be ideal to serve them in their voice ministry. Consistent adequate nourishment, educational supplies, computers and a vehicle for transportation would completely change their lives. These children are the future of Africa and we want them to grow up to be strong, happy, faithful citizens who can contribute to their world.

Be sure to make a note and include your address with your donation if you wish to have a CD mailed out to you. Please give as generously as you can.
