Hi, my name is Elena and I’m fundraising for my 15 years old son Alexander. Alex was born a healthy boy and he had been an energetic bright guy with lots of talents until May 2021. Three years ago he survived autoimmune demyelination disease and coma and became totally paralyzed. He has a rare condition called “locked-in syndrome”, when a person is totally conscious and intellectually capable but the body is fully paralyzed. Alex is fighting for getting back control over his body and he has improvements, but he needs professional rehabilitation with good physical therapy. Our medical insurance doesn’t cover the cost of rehabilitation and we have spent all our savings for previous treatments. That is why I have to make this fundraising. One hour of private physical therapy in Toronto costs 150CAD, Alex needs continuous intensive therapy to build new neuro connections.

Please help Alex to become more independent. It is impossible to imagine what can feel a teenager who is locked in his own body…
