Help for Aaron

Hi. As some of you may know Aaron was involved in a freak accident whilst climbing in Mallorca on Saturday, 12th April. Whilst at the base of a rock face a large rock weighing around 20kg fell from a height of 40m and struck him on the elbow and the pelvis. His elbow is shattered into pieces and his pelvis is fractured.

He will have an operation of 8 hours tomorrow morning (16/4) to try and repair his elbow but as of now the prognosis is not particularly encouraging and its not known how much of the use of his right arm he will regain.

His fractured pelvis may also require an operation and the recovery may be at least 6- 7 months with a lot of physio.

Aaron is unlikely to be able to get up and walk at all for at least 6 - 8 weeks.

We are very grateful he is still with us.

He is self employed and as many of you that are familiar with Spanish beurocracy will know ,he will be entitled to very little to get him through what will be some pretty rough days.

Its due to this that I have created this page.

Please give whatever you can spare to help him out.

Somos el grupo de amigos de Aaron. El sábado 12 de abril sufrió un terrible accidente mientras escalaba en el sector Jardín Vertical, cuando estaba al pie de la pared, una piedra grande y filosa de unos 20 kg fue desprendida por otro escalador desde una altura de 40 metros y le golpeó en el codo y la pelvis. El codo quedó destrozado en pedazos y la pelvis fracturada.

Hoy 16 de Abril le operarán durante 8 horas para intentar reconstruir el codo, pero por ahora el pronóstico no es muy alentador y no se sabe cuánta movilidad recuperará en el brazo derecho.

La fractura de pelvis también puede requerir cirugía, y la recuperación podría durar al menos 6-7 meses, con mucha fisioterapia.

Es probable que Aaron no pueda levantarse ni caminar durante al menos 6-8 semanas.

Estamos muy agradecidos de que siga con nosotros.

Él es autónomo y, como muchos que conocéis la burocracia española sabréis, tendrá derecho a muy poca ayuda económica para sobrellevar lo que serán días muy duros.

Por eso hemos creado esta página.
