Melanie- learning to walk again

Hello All.

Melanie has been courageously dealing with intense health issues since the end of January when she found herself unable to feel her legs and she lost full mobility in her legs. She has been hospitalized since then and was transported from Danbury Hospital to Yale’s care where she remains as they run many medical tests to determine a full prognosis. Through all of this uncertainty she has remained incredibly open and optimistic.

Melanie has approached her health struggles with every bit of positive determination, faith and patience while staying strong for herself and her family. She is simply an amazing person overcoming a lot, but she has a very long road ahead of her on the path to recovery. Melanie needs to focus all of her reserves of strength to heal as she prepares to move to an intensive rehabilitation residence soon.

Everyone’s outpouring of kindness and emotional support has helped tremendously in her positive progress over the last week. During these three weeks she has been away from her boys, her home and her work. This difficulty will continue when she is in rehabilitative care as well as recovery time and outpatient PT & OT when she does go home, Melanie will require a full time visiting nurse at home as well. As you can imagine, this is a very tough time for Melanie both physically and emotionally.
