Support Needed for Shooting Victim's Recovery
Donation protected
A friend of mine who has been without consistent shelter for several years was robbed and shot Sunday, May 11. He was taken to the MCV ER with gunshot wounds in both upper thighs. MCV treated his wounds in the ER and then booted him out onto the sidewalk in a wheelchair. They felt sure he would get up and walk soon. He told them again and again that he couldn’t walk. They didn’t even send him home with any medication. Really unbelievable. This is the worst account of medical malpractice I’ve ever heard. The police officers took his phone as evidence, so he had no phone and no way to call anyone for help. He was able to borrow a phone to call me to get some numbers he needed. He is staying with a friend but is still unable to walk. He has not left the bed in a week. The friend is not equipped to take care of someone recovering from gunshot wounds. He’s still bleeding quite a bit and can’t walk. He is going back to the ER tonight to make sure he’s healing okay. I hope this new hospital will admit him this time and give him the treatment he, and every human, deserves. I’m asking for help to support my friend while he gets back on his feet. This money will help with a hotel room and food during his recovery and to replace his phone if needed. Who knows if he will ever get it back from the Richmond police. Thank you.
