Let's help Arlo and his family!

My name is Eve, Im 22 and currently living on the Gold Coast away from my family.

I’m starting this GoFundMe to help pay for my Godsons family, as we have recently discovered he has a Optic Nerve Glioma.

14 months ago my beautiful Godson Arlo was born in New Zealand, His Parents-Hannah and Jesse, recently moved to Australia from New Zealand to be closer to our family in cairns and be surrounded by loved ones who are only just getting to meet little Arlo.

It breaks my heart to say that upon just starting their new life in Cairns, just 2 weeks ago, Arlo starting acting abnormal out of nowhere. His eyes were very shaky, and he was unstable on his feet. Hannah and her family quickly took him in to get him checked out. After hearing a million different things about what it could possibly be, A MRI and more tests were needed to get more information. Shortly after, Arlo was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He has undergone many tests since then and was flown down to Brisbane Children's Hospital to see if the tumour has grown/changed since it was discovered.

From what we know, Unfortunately, this tumour is inoperable, which means incurable. Something Arlo will live with for the rest of his life and need constant monitoring for. He will also need treatment/s in the near future. Eg. chemo ect.

At the moment, we are holding off on treatment as it is a huge thing for a 14-month-old to undergo and not needed as of yet. Although, This could change any day at any time.

The plan, for now, is to go back to Brisbane in 4 weeks for another MRI, this will show the doctors how fast the growth of the tumour is, along with an eye test to see how much this tumour is affecting his eyes/sight. This will help determine when they can start treatment. In the future, there will be constant trips to Brisbane for Hannah and Jesse, possibly months at a time, Taking time off full-time jobs to support each other in this new life-altering stage they have been thrown into.

Arlo is still his happy, cheeky self. He's still getting into everything! Like your average 14-month-old. He is an absolute trouper and dealt with the ins and outs of the hospital amazingly. He is truly an amazing kid, and I could not be an prouder of the growing boy they have raised together thus far.

This GoFundMe is here for anyone who wants to help out their little family, as it will highly affect them for a long time. With work being taken off to undergo Arlo's treatment, aswell as trips/flights to Brisbane that will not be supported by the hospital. They will also be in Brisbane for extended periods of time for his scans/treatments as they cannot be performed in Cairns. These funds will also help with plane flights, food ect. Thankfully, the treatment, tests and accommodation (Thank you Ronald McDonald!) is funded. Although, everything else is out of their pocket. And hard financially when they are unable to work as they would like to, to support their family.
