Megan Hoyt needs our support!
Anyone who knows Megan knows she is a light! She is genuine, bold, fiercely loyal, courageous and a master of her world. Megan is 16 years old and a sophomore at Fennville High School. She is active in sports and involved in her community. Megan loves basketball, volleyball and softball.
Just a few days into the New Year Megan was diagnosed with Adrenocortical Carcinoma. Tuesday, (1/3) we found out Megan has a 20 cm (7.8 in) tumor in her abdomen. It is in her liver, lungs, adrenal gland, diaphragm and chest lymph nodes as well. Megan was admitted to Helen Devos Children's Hospital. The physicians were able to get her blood pressure under control within a few days. This allowed Megan to undergo the biopsy procedure as well as get her port placed. Megan began chemotherapy today (1/12). Her kidneys look good & are functioning great.
Her heart is enlarged on the left side which is an indication that the high BP has been going on for a while. Once they get it under control, it will go back to normal size over time. On a happier note, her brain function is excellent! And no signs of it spreading there.
We kindly ask that everyone say a prayer for our sweet girl and donate if you can. We have a multitude of fundraising events in the making. Our focus is on Megan right now.
