For those of you who don't know me, my name is Brandy Adrian. I am 33 years old and have recently experienced some financial hardship due to unforeseen emergency dental work. At the beginning of November 2025, I had to undergo an almost 3 hour tooth extraction that caused nerve damage, leaving me in terrible pain, followed by a second extraction, a root canal, and now I am waiting for a permanent bridge for the area. I have been living with two chronic illnesses for over a decade now, Hidradenitis Suppurativa and Crohn's Disease, the latter of which I had my first major surgery for in April 2025, so the doctor visits are nothing new to me. However, now with the unexpected dental work, the prescriptions, checkups, medications, copays, and missed work have all felt overwhelming. The toll this has taken on my mental, emotional, and physical health has been devastating, and I am hoping to pay the dental bill as quickly as possible to ease some of the burden. In addition to my medical conditions, I am the sole full time worker in my household, so even food has felt like a luxury lately. My dental insurance is already tapped out for the year, so I will have to purchase an additional plan on top of my current one until they finish paying their end.
