Castro field trip to Coors Field

My name is Hung and I teach 5th grade in Denver Public Schools (DPS). In my 8 years of teaching, I have never been more inclined to serve a community until I began teaching at the school that I currently teach at. I am trying to raise money to help alleviate transportation costs to Science and Weather Day at Coors Field for our 2nd through 5th grade classes. Due to an unfortunate event, the entire district is not able to provide buses to schools going. With over 400 kids attending at our school alone, public transportation is the last thing we would like to do. So, we have reached out to charter companies and most have quoted more than we can afford. Being that I serve in an impacted area and community, asking kids and families to pay $8 or more for the ride alone is too much of a request. These are kids that we want to take to see an amazing event that is more than just baseball. This is a trip that these kids will remember for a long time. Not being able to get these kids to the game would be an unfortunate event. With all that is with state testing, pressure on kids and teachers to make good scores on assessments, this is the one thing that we as a staff can do for our kids to say thank you for all the hard work they've done. This is a chance to be a kid. And this is a chance for them to not worry about anything, but being in a setting that is new such as the beautiful confines of Coors Field. If we are to raise the money that I am asking for, it would help pay for a bus, perhaps two. Although it wouldn't pay for all the buses we need, it would be a great start. I know that this is asking for a lot, and that this may be a long shot, but the field trip is April 28th and that is when we would need funds by. Not only would I be so very grateful, but it would bring joy to over 400 kids and staff who always put our kids first. Seeing the happy faces of over 400 kids is nothing short of amazing. I am looking forward to seeing those faces again, and I hope to see it this year once again. Thank you for your time and your generosity.
