Hi, My wife Tracy & I are raising funds for a very close longtime friend of ours who is currently battling an abusive ex in the Family Court whilst also undergoing treatment for Stage 4 bowel cancer.
Jenny (a pseudonym for her protection) has a 6 year old child with an ex-partner she split with even before her child was born. The ex is an alcoholic and drug user who has stalked and harassed her for 6 years despite multiple Domestic Violence Orders. He has breached these orders 8 or 9 times and has served 3 short prison sentences. It also has come to light that two other women have Domestic Violence Orders against this same man.
Cameras have been installed at her house and her address has been put on an emergency alert with local Police. This man however uses social media and other people to harrass and terrorise our friend. All this understandably has sent her stress levels through the roof and has no doubt contributed to her setbacks in her cancer treatment.
The latest piece of harrassment from this utter coward of a man has been to apply to the Family Court for custody of our friend's daughter, claiming that she is near death and the child will need her father.
Now, since not being on the child's birth certificate and having nothing to do with the child plus his multiple Domestic Violence convictions, his alcoholism, violent and intimidating behaviour you'd think our Justice System would just laugh at this loser and tell him to go away. But, no. He has gained the financial backing of one of these self-pitying Woe Is Me men's rights groups to engage a legal team. And now our beautiful friend finds herself in a court system where very little help is offered to the women.
Jenny has received an offer of limited Legal Aid but the private Law Firm is demanding a $5k "bond" to take on her case.
All while this is happening she is still recovering from 4 rounds of chemo and having part of her liver and bowel removed. Last scans were positive, for which we are grateful but now all her energy needs to go toward her healing and not be concerned with financial worries.
Any donation no matter how small will 100% be directed to our dear friend to use in her legal fight. Any funds over our target will be used to upgrade security measures at Jenny's house such as a security screen door, and donation to her local Women's Resource Centre for Victims of Domestic Violence who have been a great help over the past 5 years by providing court support and practical advice. Thankyou
