Baby Bronte needs your help!

Please help Emma and Jake give Bronte the best chance at survival. At only 13 days of age Bronte was diagnosed with a very rare disorder known as SCID - Severe Combined Immune Deficiency. This would be commonly known as the bubble boy disease, but for Jake and Emma this isn’t a comedy it’s real life. The type that Bronte has is Autosomal Recessive Adenosine deaminase deficiency. This is extremely rare and affects 1 in 200,000 people world wide. Untreated this is fatal in the first year of life. Bronte’s treatment involves daily medications, weekly injections, blood tests and infusions every few weeks.

Emma and Jake have 3 children, Kaius 3, Willow 2 and Bronte now 15 weeks old. With the diagnosis of SCID it has required the entire family to immediately isolate. This means after all of our Covid isolation the isolation life continues for them. They can no looker see their family and friends and have even had to resort to removing their eldest children from any outside of home activities to prevent any infections reaching Bronte (day care, swimming lessons and extra curricular activities). To stop Bronte from being one of the few children diagnosed with SCID from dying in their first year of life, she will require treatment overseas. The next step in her journey is Gene therapy at Great Ormond St Hospital (GOSH), in London, England. This means Emma and Bronte need to move overseas for a minimum of 5 months!! Leaving mid September and hopefully coming home mid February 2023. The treatment will require isolation in London both in and out of hospital. Emma and Bronte will not only be in a foreign company they will need to remain isolated and alone away from their support system and most importantly Dad/Partner and children/siblings. This is Bronte’s only hope for survival and Emma and Jake are willing to do what it takes even though it’s such a sacrifice.

This treatment has a 94% success rate & does come with its side effects but if all goes well the family will be together at home in February for ongoing monitoring and another 6 months of isolation for precaution.

As a family they are seeking support from generous and giving family friends and the wider community to help their extremely stressful cause. This will go towards funding 6 months worth of living in the centre of London (the second most expensive city world wide!) for Emma and a growing baby.

Emma, is a Registered Emergency Nurse and has looked after others her entire career will not be able to return to work for an extended time to ensure Brontes immune system is strong enough to handle normal life. Please help the Hamilton’s & Moore’s give their daughter/sister/cousin/neice/grandaughter the best chance of survival and donate. If you know Emma and Jake you would know that to ask for help is out of their personality and comfort zone so I have taken it upon myself to call on the community to help do so!
