James' Kidney Transplant
Donazione protetta
Hello! This is James Wright, Jr. He is a husband of 37 years, father of 3, grandfather of 2, brother, and friend to many. He’s also a pastor of 31 years and enjoys serving God, serving God’s people, and spreading the good news of Jesus. James has lived an enjoyable life but has also had his share of trials.
In 1985, James had a traumatic accident while working on a large paper machine at International Paper (Union Camp). His hand was completely severed from his arm by a nylon rope attached to the paper machine. He had 27 hours of marathon microscopic surgery in a day and a half. A team of surgeons reattached his right hand and he had some movement of the fingers for about 2 weeks before the hand started to die and had to be removed. This was a very traumatic experience for James, however, he was able to persevere and witness God’s healing power. This incident did not stop him from serving his family, his job, his church, and his community.
Unfortunately, that was not the end of his health challenges...
Over two decades later in 2008, at age 50, he started to have kidney failure and in 2014 he was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). While having this kidney disease for 15 years, he has faced many challenges. He started Home Peritoneal Dialysis in 2016 and then later transferred to Hemodialysis in 2022 to help with his residual kidney function. Although dialysis helps to sustain him, it has caused much strain on his body and he’s ready to regain his strength and enjoy this next season of his life.
After many years of prayers and adjusting his lifestyle to hopefully receive a new kidney, things took a turn for James this month (May 2023). He began testing at the Mayo Clinic and August University Medical to become a kidney transplant candidate. And thankfully, he was able to receive a new kidney during a seamless procedure and begin his journey of recovery. He is currently doing well and excited to finally experience complete restoration.
While the transplant is covered by insurance, travel, lodging, caregiver, and drug prescription fees are associated with the transplant. To ensure a smooth and successful process of recovery, he’d greatly appreciate your prayers and financial support in whatever amount you’re willing to give.
James looks forward to spending the rest of his life and retirement loving his family, pastoring, gardening, and vacationing. He will also continue to give his time and resources to various charities and organizations in his community.
Thank you in advance for your generous donations, your love, and continuous prayers.
With love,
The Wright Family <3
