Hello Everyone!
As some of you may know, and many of whom do not, my older brother, Loren, suffers from Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. A bicycle accident lead to the discovery and diagnosis in 2009 and he has been living with it ever since. For years chemotherapy medications and drug trials kept his CML at bay, however around a year ago tests revealed he was no longer in remission and more drastic steps would be necessary to treat it. When he was not accepted into the newest clinical drug trial it became clear his only option would be a bone marrow transplant. Luckily he matched with a donor and was able to have his transplant this September. So far he is doing well and things are going as smoothly as possible but the road to successful transplant is very long and can last indefinitely. Unfortunately, insurance falls extremely short in providing adequate financial support for the transplant and extensive medical care required afterwards. To make matters worse he is unable to return to running his business for over a year. He and his wife own and operate a small Fabrication and Design company where my brother is the main fabricator. Due to the amount of dust and dirt created when fabricating and my brother’s compromised immune system, he will be sidelined for at least another 9 months. As a father of four, BMT patient and a business owner/operator this means things have gotten a little tight. I can’t think of anyone more giving or caring. He would do anything for his family and I now I would like to try and help his family during this rough patch. Any little bit is much appreciated! Please feel free to share. Thank you so much!
