As you may know, my dear niece, Leia Edenina Limon is in Dallas awaiting emergency heart surgery. Shortly after her diagnosis at Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin, Texas her health took a turn for the worse. She was put on full life support, after receiving CPR.
Please read my brother’s story that he shared on Facebook about our sweet Leia.
“Now that we’re situated and have a better grasp on this difficult time my little Family is going thru, we wanted to let our Facebook Family & Friends know that Our Sweet Little Princess Leia is in Critical Condition in the CVICU here at Dells Children’s Medical Center Hospital here in Dallas. She has a heart condition called TAPVR (Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return) we found out about early in the morning hours of 7/8/18. We took her to St David’s at 3am Bc she had thrown up and had a little blood in it. Her levels were fine until they noticed Leias’ oxygen supply was extremely low in the 45% to 50% range when normally it should be 90% and above. They admitted Leia into the ICU at St David’s, but the hospital staff advised us that she would need to be transferred to Dell Children’s Hospital for further medical evaluation. After multiple tests and discussions amongst the medical team at Dell Children’s, it turns out she has a very serious heart condition. After much deliberation and weighing out the consequences not only talking to the Surgery team & medical professionals but family as well, we came to the conclusion that it would be in Leias’ best interest & overall health if she was flown out to Dallas to undergo Open Heart Surgery to address the issue and help our Leia girl back to health. She was expected to be flown out yesterday 7/9/18 to have open heart surgery but when she got to the airport she took a turn for the worst and became unresponsive and the paramedics had to administer CPR to her for at least 15 minutes or longer to save her life. We then had to make a difficult decision and put her on a machine called ECMO which is Maximum Life Support and is doing everything for her to give her, and her body the best fighting chance. Surgery will take place tomorrow hopefully 7-11-18 as long as her condition is stable and they deem it suitable enough to operate. Me & Madaline we’re both blind sided by this condition, when we found out. We were in disbelief and shock (Still are) and all that we ask for is for Continuous Prayer & support for our Leia girl. Believer or non-believer we ask that you uplift her name into the light and ask for strength and a speedy recovery. As you can imagine this is more than an unbearable time for not only me and Maddie but for our family’s as well. Never did we think in a million years we’d be where we are right now, hours away from a potential life threatening surgery in order to save our daughters life...... I read about these cases online but to be the ones in the situation is surreal. We ask prayers to guide the Medical team here in Dallas to provide the absolute best care for her, guide the surgeons hands in operation, health & strength for Leia girl, & strength, faith, & hope for me and Madaline & our families. It’s been a treacherous 48 hours so far & we have a long hard battle up ahead, but my Leia girl is a fighter and she has showed tremendous resilience & strength so far and is showing slow signs of improvement pre-surgery which is a good sign! We’re trying to be optimistic & strong for our Leia girl but our hearts hurt and is filled with sorrow, frustration, anger, & confusion. Again we just ask for continued support and Prayers as we are going thru this horrendous ordeal, I know god wouldn’t put us thru anything we couldn’t handle and thru Jesus Christ anything is possible.
Mommy & Daddy love you oh so much Leia Edenina & don’t you give up fighting!!!! We’ll be at your bedside the entire way thru! Please & again prayers and support for our precious little Leia girl ❤️❤️”
At this time we are asking for support for Nicholas, Madaline & Leia. They are now in Dallas, Texas at Children’s Medical Center. We don’t want them to have to worry about expenses such as lodging, medical bills, and meals at this time. Any donation, big or small, will provide some comfort in their time of need and will help to ease some of the burden they are currently experiencing. Lastly, we ask as a family that you continue to keep them in your prayers as this will surely be a long journey of many unknowns. We believe that the power of prayer has helped Leia so far. We don’t doubt God and we trust in his plan that he will help to see Leia through this. We don’t know why things like this happen to little angels like her but we remain strong in our Faith.
We will be sure to update you all on Leia’s condition as we get more news.
