Vertical Adventures Staff COVID-19 Relief Fund

We’ve Got This!
As many of you know, due to the business closure mandated by the COVID-19 outbreak, 5.Life (parent company of VA, Chambers, Training Center) laid off 95% of its employees. While there are some emergency supports available for affected employees they are slow in arriving and uncertain in scope.
Whether you’ve been climbing for 20 years or this is your first year in rock shoes, you have come to know that the climbing community is special. It is inclusive, encouraging, and is composed of people who believe that anything is possible with enough try-hard. There is no doubt that the virus and its effect on the climbing community is a V10-level challenge. We invite you to rally with us by taking care of those who have been most affected.
Donate Here to Help VA Employees NOW
The funds you donate here will be distributed to all employees who were laid off as cash to use for whatever they need: food, housing, bills etc. We can CRUSH this goal and get money to VA staff this week if we all pitch in!
How it Works
Based on the number of affected employees, full-time and part-time, we have created a “share” structure to help us fairly distribute the funds. If you’d like to see the math, take a look here . Once we hit our first fundraising goal, we will distribute the funds accordingly. After we hit our second goal, we’ll do it again! And we’ll keep it flowing until the gym is open! If an employee chooses to opt out of their share (maybe their Great Aunt Gladys is covering their costs during this time of need), they can return it to the pot and it will be distributed accordingly among the other shareholders. This way no one needs to ask for help and if you’re not in need you can make funds available to those who are.
Who Are We?
This effort is being led by two gym members (and Team parents) and two employees (not owners).

FAQs
1. Do the owners of the gym get any of these funds? Nope. This GoFundMe is strictly to provide cash assistance to employees who lost their jobs. 5.Life, the parent company of Vertical Adventures, Chambers, and the Training Center, is not involved in this effort. If you would like to support gym operations, consider keeping your membership active during the closure. This will enable them to pay bills to keep the business afloat while there is no income arriving.
2. Do the employees working on this fundraiser distribute funds to themselves? Actually, no. They both have a Great Aunt Gladys.
3. How long are you raising funds? No one knows how long the business closure order will last. Our plan is to keep rallying funds until the gym reopens.
4. What emergency supports are available to employees other than this fundraiser? Unemployment services and general guidance from VA management staff.
