To know the Machado's is to love them.
At the end of October, Zoey's mom (Jessica) noticed some neurological changes in Zoey as well full body pain episodes. At the beginning of November, Zoey was admitted to Primary Children's Hospital when an MRI revealed three lesions on Zoey's brain. At the time of the first MRI Zoey had cochlear implants that made it so her entire brain could not be imaged. At a later date the magnets from her implants were removed and a follow up MRI was done. In that MRI, four more lesions were found on Zoey's brain. The next month and a half was spent trying to manage the intense pain Zoey was in as well as stop the lesions from growing. Zoey's condition baffled every physician and specialist who looked into her case. No one could determine what was causing these lesions and how to stop them from growing. Zoey received several different treatments to control the growth, but to no avail. After a courageous month and a half, Rob and Jessica made the difficult decision to bring Zoey home on hospice.
On December 17th, Zoey peacefully left this world and gained her wings. Zoey leaves behind her dad (Rob), mom (Jessica), and her brother (Milo). She also leaves behind her mark on this world.
Our hearts are broken. We aren't sure how life goes on without Zoey in it. She was a bright light and will be missed immensely.
The Machado's are facing the unimaginable as they move forward without Zoey. We love them endlessly and want to do whatever we can to elevate the heavy financial burden of medical bills as well the cost of burial.
