When you hear the saying "life is to short ..." even if for a second you feel the truth to the statement and take it in, even if for just one moment. It's unfortante that it takes a tragedy of a friend, family member or even an acquanitance to get the true meaning of the phrase.
My brother, Brandon Jones is an active soldier for the United States Army stationed in Texas. He loves his family and friends with his amazing heart but most of all he loves his high school sweetheart, his wife Nicole. Someone who stood by him through thick and thin and continues to do so with strength that is beyond amazing.
On July 26th Brandon was in a horrific motorcycle accident. He was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered many broken bones and major skin wounds. Both his legs were broken including the femur bones, broke his hip, crushed is forearm, fractured his neck and much more. At the time he was taken to the emergency room he was alert and could talk to his physicians. Since then his health has declined. Although he was wearing his helmet Brandon currently suffers from Fat Embolism Syndrome (FES). It is where the bone marrow leaks from the broken bones and the fatty cells then cause all kinds of havoc in the body. In Brandon's condition his traveled to his brain and sits right in the middle preventing the top and bottom parts of his brain to connect. We were informed if Brandon does become coherant again he most likely will not be the Brandon we knew him as. He has already had multiple surgeries of his injuries to his body and more are anticipated including placing a metal plate in his forearm as it is completely crushed and has been said by a physician to be the worst they have ever seen. They are delaying the surgery of his arm due to the extensiveness of the surgery and would be too stressful for his body. As the Dr's and surgeons piece our fighter back together we are told his brain condition is irreversible.
There are no words to the emotional toll this tragedy has taken on his wife, parents, family and friends. Such a large part of Brandons loved ones live in Iowa including his wife, parents, siblings, family and friends. Some of which flew down to Texas immediately to be by his bedside not expecting his condition to decline to the level it has.
Our loved one has a very long road ahead for him and one he will have to give every bit of fight that we know he has in him. I would like to ask any and all of you for your prayers most of all. In addition, for anyone that is willing and able to contribute to Brandon's fight. There are so many expenses that are to continue to come the families way and to help with any of those expenses could help them in so many ways that would help them keep their focus where it needs to be, on Brandon and his fight .
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and most of all thank you to any and all that have kept our loved one in your hearts and prayers.
