Bobby’s Medical Journey:
As most of you know, we have been very open about Bobby’s medical journey until recently. We were hoping to get past this, but it seems it is more complicated than we were thinking. Since July, Bobby has been wheelchair-bound. Until recently, we didn’t let many know the true depths of what is going on. Since I am asking for help, I feel I need to explain to you why we are here. Not only has he been wheelchair-bound, but his cognitive abilities have been declining. He is having trouble swallowing; when he can eat, he is getting choked. It has been over a week since he has eaten any soft solid food, but he has gotten to a point now where he isn’t wanting to even drink. We have a medical team of 18 different doctors that we are currently working with but still struggling to come up with a definitive diagnosis. His symptoms fit so many autonomic disorders. We have determined that whatever is going on is nerve & neurological related. He could be fine in the morning when he wakes up, but by lunchtime, he could be totally confused, stutters, and struggles to talk or even remember things. He can’t control his bodily functions, he can’t control his body temperature or his blood pressure. He forgets what he is talking about mid-sentence, loses his words, has uncontrolled limb spasms & tremors. He is able to transport from the bed to the chair, but any more than that, he passes out. At the moment, his kidneys & heart are holding out, although he has progressed to stage 4 congestive heart failure & stage 5 kidney failure and this week we have been told possibly liver failure, but the neurological symptoms are what is making it very difficult on him right now. He couldn’t even hold down a work-from-home type job due to the confusion, easily passing out, and numerous doctor’s appointments per week. He is very depressed right now. Many of these doctors have recommended we go to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, which we would love to do but just don’t have the finances for it. If he is out of the hospital in time this week, we have an appointment to discuss hospice and their resources. We have sold or are selling all that we can to try to keep our house. I am out of options and time as starting tomorrow, utilities will start getting cut off. I am the only income and our outgoing finances are way more than my income. I have cut out everything possible that isn’t essential for day-to-day living. I am currently out of PTO at my job so any time off is unpaid. I know I am bouncing around here in my explanation, but my emotions are all over the place right now. If you want or need to know more, please feel free to reach out to me. If you have been around Bobby recently, then you have definitely seen the change and decline. On the outside, you can’t tell much is wrong, but on the inside, he has the perfect storm going on. He is not very happy with us having to reach out for help but again I am out of time and options. I understand if you can’t donate but would greatly appreciate any and all prayers.
