Help Diana beat cancer

My name is Johnna (Lorenzano) Hammons, and I am raising money for my amazing big sister, Diana Berry.

 

This week has been a whirlwind of emotion, uncertainty, and action. Last Tuesday Diana had a mammogram after noticing some irregularities. By Tuesday evening she was able to get in for a biopsy, and we received the results back on Thursday. Diana tested positive for Stage III Inflammatory Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. After meeting with the surgeon, oncologist, and other medical professionals, Diana now has a clear plan in place that includes a long journey of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation.

 

Anyone who has met Diana knows the absolute joy she brings to others. As a nurse in the PICU at Peyton Manning Children’s hospital, Diana saves lives, comforts those who are worried, and brings light to everyone she encounters. She is a DAISY award recipient- a testament to the bonds she builds with her patients and families through her tender and loving care.

 

As a wife, big sister, daughter, dog mom, and friend, no one beats Diana. She is always a step ahead, checking on family, sending notes of encouragement, and spreading her infectious laugh ( what David refers to as a cackle). She always offers the right words to say and helps anyone at the drop of a hat. I don’t believe the word “no” is in her vocabulary. She works overtime, plans showers and birthdays for friends, and has even been roped in to coaching sports with me. She has been an amazing role model for me and for our brother Mikey. Diana loves snuggling with her two fur babies, watching the St. Louis Cardinals with her wonderful husband, and taking long walks with close friends. She brings so much love and support to others.

 

Please continue to include Diana and her husband Tyler in your prayers. The road ahead is long, but she is so incredibly strong-willed and tough! She is devastated at the idea of stepping away from work for a while because her passion has always been to care for others. Dave and I invite you to help ease the financial burden on Diana and Tyler by contributing to this donation page that has been started to help cover medical expenses during this time. She has cared for so many, and now it is time for us to do the same in return!
