Hello friends - my name is Genevieve and our work family (with the permission from Britani) is raising money to help our friend Britani and her family with medical related expenses for her mother who suffered a pulmonary embolism and heart attack on her dream trip to Italy . Please see the latest update she sent us. Any help is appreciated.

*From Britani - Friends / Family we still need prayers for Gods will ASAP ! I’m Sure he has a plan for all of this tragedy.

It is day 9 and my Mom is still in the ICU in the Venice Italy Hospital and she is still in an unconscious state after suffering a pulmonary embolism and a confirmed massive heart attack as well . Although she is unresponsive she is breathing on her own so she is not hooked up to machine’s . We meet with the chief of the hospital and head of neurology and cardiology tomorrow .They will help guide us with the best possible outcome and options we will have. Doctors say she may not come out of this state so it’s a matter of her will and Gods will to decide what’s next , so we wait and we pray for Gods will and will accept what comes . It is always good to have hope and we do.

We visit her everyday and touch her , kiss her, talk to her and play music for her. When we visit her in the ICU, I can see all the kind things the nurses and doctors do to make her comfortable even tho she may not know it. Doctors here have been wonderful and so compassionate to us and providing beautiful care for my mom and we have met strangers along the way who are now friends. Hard to imagine life without my mom who has been the best mom In the world . We love her so deeply .

Since she is a US citizen, the doctors are talking to Mark and I about transporting her back to the US if possible with medical flight to her hospital in Alaska where she will continue care . However, we won’t be permitted to fly with her on that flight . We are working with all the agencies to help us and my mom in this bizarre situation including the US Embassy and Consulate.

In the meantime we are just waiting and surviving here in Venice until we have more answers. We do not know how long we will be here, could be weeks.

again, the timing of my moms medical event Sunday 11/20 happens to be the same exact day my dad died 3 years ago which is impossible to wrap our heads around . Coming to Italy was a dream of my mom‘s so even in the circumstances we do not regret bringing her here because she loved the few amazing days that she experienced when she was here. At some point I will post those pictures. If we don’t respond, please know we are in a different time zone . 10 hours ahead of Alaska for example
