Hi, my name is Luke Stringer and last year I met Staff Sargeant Aaron Hale through the Nantucket Holiday for Heroes Progam .  He inspired me to do something good,  and made me think that kids here on Nantucket could raise money to buy our first Nantucket Holidays for Heroes Service Dog. 

Did you know 22 veterans commit suicide every night?  And if they have a service dog, it's proven we can reduce this number to ZERO.  We need to get a dog to every veteran who needs one. 

I asked my brother Noah and 12 other friends and we put together a dog walk next weekend on Saturday and Sunday August 13 & 14, 2016 at Sanford Farm (thanks to The Nantucket Land Bank).  We also have some great sponsors in The Westmoor Club and Blue Buffalo dog food.  Every dog that come to the walk will also get a really cool leash. 

Last night, my mom took us to the Westmoor Club to hear  Luis Carlos Montalvan a wounded combat hero and NY TImes Best selling author and his service dog, Tuesday talk about how important service dogs are.  We set up a table to tell people about our walk and we raised just over $10,000 - wow is all I can say! 

My dream to provide a service dog is happening.  I have a great committee and a great network, but I only know so many people.  Please help me spread the mission and raise funds for those who have given so much to our country. 

Just like my pop has taught me......freedom is not free.  Service dogs for Heroes should really be OUR cause and I be OUR I mean the bigger USA.  Lets say thank you to those who have provided the freedoms we enjoy.
