Help us Get to Africa

Welcome to our site! As many of you know, we began our adoption process in August, 2009. The Lord laid upon our hearts the desire to adopt a little girl from South Africa . It is not a logical decision from the world's point of view. We have four healthy biological children. Scott is 50 and I am turning 47. International adoption is very expensive. Why would we take this on? Our family decided that this is something that we were called to do. We needed to step into the water and walk by faith. It has been a very long wait. A time of growing in trust and patience.
In June, 2012, we received and accepted the referral for our daughter, Khethiwe. Khethiwe has just turned 3 years old. One morning I started to do the math: we started our adoption journey and have been praying for our daughter since she was in her mother's womb. Although we couldn't see it, God's hand was truly in this from conception. Khethiwe means "Chosen One" in Zulu. We fully believe He has chosen us to be her forever family.
While not everyone is called to adopt, we believe that God's word challenges us all to look after the orphans. Psalm 82:3 "“ "Give justice to the poor and the orphan". James 1:27 "“ "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress". Adoption is God's heart. John 14:18 "“ "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you".
We are committed to get to South Africa to bring our daughter home. We are asking for your help. We don't really need a shower "“ I have been buying girl clothes for the past 4 years! Rather, we are asking you to consider sponsoring "Care Miles" to help us reach our destination. Our goal is $8434 "“ it is a journey of 8434 miles from Toronto to South Africa , one way. You can purchase 1 Care Mile for 1 dollar. Each dollar donated will bring us 1 mile closer to South Africa .
More importantly than your financial support, we covet your prayers. It is only by the grace of God that we will be able to give Khethiwe a home "“ a hope and a future.
Thank-you so much for your support. Cheryl and Scott Bullock
