Help Ashley with medical expenses

Donation protected

Hi-Our niece, Ashley Milstead Baker, has been diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer that spread to right ovary, liver and into abdominal cavity. Ashley had surgery on December 2, 2020. At that time she had a section of her colon removed, right ovary removed and colostomy. She now wears an ostomy bag and may have this for the rest of her life.

Ashley is 34 years old and was married on October 24, 2020. Before the wedding she said food didn’t taste good and she had no appetite. She brushed it off to nerves. The end of November she became so constipated that she was vomiting and went to the ED. They ran tests and found she was severely anemic and started blood transfusions. After more testing they found she had colon cancer and that it had spread. Surgery was scheduled immediately and on December 2, 2022 she had her initial surgery to remove the cancer in her colon and ovary. Chemotherapy began the last week of December, which consists of 5-6 hours at the infusion clinic then 48 hours with a take home pump. She has found that she has no energy or appetite while on the pump and mostly sleeps plus she has been having allergic reactions to the drugs and has to take extra medicines to alleviate this. In March she was once again dehydrated and went to ED for fluids. They found at that time that she had gallbladder issues and scheduled surgery to remove it. On June 2, 2021 she began a Chemotherapy Trial that targets the Liver. She was sick for 4 weeks, through first and second rounds. Her hair fell out immediately after starting this new drug as well. The third round was better.

Ashley has private insurance as she was working as a Nanny before diagnosis. She is unable to work at this time as she is not well during chemo weeks (every other at this time). She does receive unemployment but with additional Covid monies being stopped in Texas her income has drastically decreased. Her husband, Tim is working as a Correctional Officer which helps pay the monthly bills with little left over for medical bills. Chemotherapy will continue indefinitely, and may have to have maintenance for the remainder of her life.

All proceeds from this GoFundMe will be used for current and future medical expenses.

Thank you so much. Prayers are appreciated.
