Larry's Fight Against Lymphoma

For a little background on the 8 month long journey to a diagnosis, Larry was admitted to Aurora hospital December 26th, 2015. There they had found a mass on his liver and performed 2 biopsies, both having negative results. Larry then decided to move his medical care to Froedtert in Milwaukee in January 2016. There they had completed an additional 2 biopsy’s and an abdominal surgery in March 2016. As those all resulted in yet again negative results, they put him on a course of steroids in hopes the mass on his liver would shrink. April was a recovery month as the abdominal surgery put Larry out of work for a few weeks. In May, after careful consideration, Larry again decided to move his medical care to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Here, the doctors have been aggressive at finding an answer for Larry. After 3 biopsy’s and then a bone marrow biopsy for a total of 8 biopsy’s and 5 hospital admissions, the doctor’s had found the answer to what we are learning will be a long road ahead. On August 18th, 2016 Larry was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma. Only 5% of Lymphoma’s are T-cell. Right now, the treatment plan will continue at Mayo with a schedule of 6 chemo treatments every 21 days. Once Larry is in total remission, an autologous stem cell transplant will be performed.
