My name is Ella Evanov, and my Dad's work friends, Kandee and Brittany, have helped me to set up this GoFundMe for my sister, Sadie.

Sadie was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor after experiencing abrupt hemiplegia of her left side. It is suspected that the brain mass is a pediatric cavernoma, or a slow growing oligodendroglioma. Sadie is scheduled to undergo brain surgery to remove the mass and have it biopsied on Tuesday. She studied Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Pittsburgh, and currently works as a research specialist at The Hatfield Lab studying bacteriophage diversity and genomics. She is 23 years old, has two cats, and lives with her boyfriend, Stephen Kavanshansky, aka, "V" in an apartment in Pittsburgh. Steve works as a contractor and is frontman for the Pittsburgh band Kicked in the Head by a Horse. They both attended Plum High School.

After surgery, Sadie will likely attend an outpatient rehab facility to regain function in her left side, and possibly undergo radiation therapy dependent upon biopsy results. She will be staying with our parents Carrie and Rege while she is wheelchair bound.

The goal of this fundraiser is to aid in Sadie and Steve’s bills while Sadie is unable to work. Additionally, funds will go towards supportive medical equipment rented by Rege and Carrie to ensure Sadie’s recovery - hospital bed, wheelchair, medications, etc. They will appreciate your help during this difficult time.
