Bring Baby Maya Home
Doação protegida
On July 26, Maya Shea was born and within 26 hours, she underwent serious surgery. She was born with tracheoesophageal fistula atresia, a birth defect. Basically, her esophagus didn't connect her mouth to her stomach. Without surgery, she would have starved. She is currently in the NICU and is sedated as she recovers and heals. I was excited to meet my baby girl and bring her home but I'm still so thankful to God for what he has done for her so far. However, when we saved for the baby, we didn't predict she'd have a defect and didn't account for expenses associated with it. We are incurring medical costs from her NICU stay. Thankfully, it's not as much as it could be Because we have insurance but they don't pay 100%. Our Drs estimated her weight to be 5+ lbs so we didn't purchase any preemie clothing. Also, because her throat will be so sensitive when she comes home, we need to rip up the fairly new carpet in our house and put down smooth floors in areas she will frequent. We aren't the type of family to ask for help and normally we'd be busy figuring this out ourselves but Maya needs our love and attention right now. Any help, most importantly, prayer, is appreciated. Thank you and God bless.
