Hubbard Homestead Help - A Haiku
I never thought I'd
Be filing a GoFundMe
And yet here I am.
How did I get here?
That is a bit of a tale
I shall keep it short.
It started in March
I worked for a publisher
I sold books for them
Then quite by surprise
They decided to cut me
To save some money.
Eliminated.
Unemployed and left seeking,
The search has been grim.
I've sent resumes
And applications a-plenty
With few responses.
A handful of folks
Brought me in for interviews
But did not hire me.
Rent has been lacking
Falling far behind since March
But things were not bad.
The landlord waited,
Patient and understanding
Until this morning.
No more will she wait.
Full rent and late fees are due
In just 6 days time.
We do not have it.
And we have nowhere to go
If we are kicked out.
The kids will be crushed.
Will they have to change their schools?
Leave their teams and friends?
I have no options.
I ask for help to stay here.
It is not easy.
Every last dollar
Pays the back rent and the fees
And buys us more time.
If you can help us
I would be greatful forever
And thank you so much.
If you can't help us
Do not be disheartened.
Times are tough for many.
I never thought I'd
Be filing a GoFundMe
And yet here I am.
