Ms. Butler's Freshman Science Class

Story

Hi!        My name is Brooke Butler (aka Ms. Butler). This is my first year as a secondary science teacher at Austin East Magnet High School. This high school is a Title I inner-city school in Knoxville, TN where they need energized, innovative young teachers to inspire kids to reach heights that their environment may not have promoted. As a new educator, I do not have the necessary resources to set up a stimulating and engaging learning environment. Upon my hiring, I was awarded $100 without tax to set up my classroom (posters, models, markers, tissues, books, laboratory supplies, etc). This is absolutely not enough to provide the students with the hands-on education that they need and deserve.         My goal is to raise $1,500 within the next month so I can afford to assemble a classroom that will motivate my students to reach their learning potential and hopefully instill the same love for learning that inspired me to become a teacher in the first place. This money will not only mean a lot to me, but it will mean a lot to the hundreds of students that will have access to what they need to be successful. Thanks for any support!
