Sam is a 13 year old student currently enrolled at Columbiana Middle School. About 3 months ago Sam's mom Irene noticed a lump near his stomach. Over the next few weeks this lump continued to grow in size. Not sure what was going on Doctors ran some tests and did a biopsy on Sam. Two weeks later Irene got the devastating news. Sam has cancer! The lump that Irene seen growing from Sam's stomach was actually his spleen enlarging in size due to the cancer. He was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer known as B-Cell Lymphoma. Sam went through a lot of intense testing after his diagnosis. He is currently up in Akron at Akron Children's Hospital. Today he had surgery to put his port in, a spinal tap and will also start his first round of Chemo. He is scheduled to be there at least 2 weeks possibly longer depending on how well Sam does with his treatment.. Doctors are saying that they should know within 7 days if the Chemo is working. As you know with any cancer treatment it is expensive and can become overwhelming. Not knowing what the future holds, I'm hoping that this go fund me will help ease some of the financial burden For Sam's mom Irene and his dad Rob as they are committed to being by Sam's side throughout this entire process. If you are able to donate that would be wonderful. Also we understand that some are not financially able to at this time.
