Hi, my name is Meg and I’m Joel’s sister-in-love. On Monday, March 20, 2023 Joel suffered a massive stroke. He was living with his good friend who was luckily at home and got him the help he needed quickly. He was taken to Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC where they discovered he needed emergency surgery so he was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical in Winston Salem, NC. Joel had a thrombectomy procedure and is in critical condition. There is brain swelling and a small brain bleed. Significant damage has been done to the right side of his brain and we are praying for God’s miraculous healing touch. Joel has a very long road ahead of him in so many regards, including financially, as we navigate the medical help that he will need to recover from the stroke and begin rehabilitation. All money that is raised for Joel will be used to cover the medical expenses incurred.
