Fort McMurray evacuees

The wildfire in Fort McMurray displaced tens of thousands of people, hundreds ending up in Lac La Biche, Beaver Lake and Kinkino. I know from experience that the people who end up in evacuation centres are usually the ones who have no support systems and may need help the most. Even if people have not lost their homes, they may be displaced for weeks and they may have fled their homes with nothing.
I am going to Lac la Biche on Friday and will use the funds to buy gift cards for drug stores, grocery stores and prepaid visas so that people
Can provide basic necessities for thier families while they are away from home. Red Cross does amazing work, but is sometimes difficult
For individuals to access and this money will go to those with immediate need.

i will work with the folks at the eva evacuee registration to determine the best way to distribute the gift cards and funds to benefit those of greatest need.
