Community Service in Cuba
Hello friends and family!
I was chosen to be 1 of the
5 students from Columbia University to volunteer in Cuba for one week! I am
looking forward to this experience so I can offer services to those in need and
simultaneously expand my professional career and knowledge of the Cuban's
culture.
During our spring break we
will provide free Occupational Therapy services to disadvantage children in a
rehabilitation center in Cardenas, Cuba.
Occupational
therapy is a needed service for children with disabilities, such as premature
birth, congenital anomalies, neurological disorders, sensory processing
difficulties, neuromuscular disease and autism. Occupational therapists design
interventions to establish skills and modify environments to ameliorate impairment
and promote healthy development.
In order to participate in this
program I need to raise a total of $2,000 by March 5th. I would like to ask for your help! Any
contributions will help subsidize my travel expenses and provide medical
supplies to these children. Please know that no donation is too small,
sometimes a lot can be done with very little. Thank you so much for your consideration
and generosity!
