My Momma Boss

Doação protegida
It all started when my mom turned 40... everyone said she was 40 and fabulous little did she know this year would not be so fabulous... Hi I’m Keke Booze. My mom, Holley Booze, is why I’m here... I am the youngest of three girls (I’m 13) and I have a little brother three years younger than me, Carter Booze he’s 10 years old. My oldest sister is 21. Her name is Haley Booze. Then my “Irish twin” Alyssa Booze is 14. Our mom Holley is the best mom in the whole universe and she does everything for us! But... she was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis in August of 2019... Dermatomyositis (DM for short) is an inflammatory disease that causes muscle weakness and skin rashes. 10 people out of 1 million get the disease... we always tell her she is “one in a million” At first my mom and her doctors thought it was Lupus, which also causes skin rashes... especially because my Gigi (my mom’s mom) has lupus so everyone thought it was probable that my mom most likely had it...but her illness and pain kept getting worse, and my mom was showing symptoms that lupus didn’t have. She got puffy fingers, and her chest and face always looked sunburnt. My dad (David Booze) decided to take my mom to a better doctor than all the other ones and finally figure out what was going on... the specialist officially diagnosed my mom with DM and let me say it all went downhill from there. My mom became weaker and in more pain! Her doctor put her on steroids to decrease inflammation, but it causes a lot of side effects so she was put on even more medication such as a chemo type drug. My mom also developed shingles and thrush so she needed to take medication for that. She needed so much medication I remember seeing her hand full of them every morning and she would have to put all of them in her mouth at once and swallow them! Her fingers puffed up and were huge and red! She couldn’t even move them or hold something without pain... every Friday she has to get a shot in her arm done by my dad. My mom forces herself to run on the treadmill so her muscles don’t deteriorate. My mom is such a fighter!!! She has a round face from steroids that she is embarrassed of, it’s called the moon face, but I think she is as beautiful as she has always been. Because of the side effects from the steroids and beause the chemo type drug is not working, she will have to have blood transfusions once a month. The blood transfusions are $1,500 a month. My parents sat all of us down and told us that because of the medical bills we won’t have that big of a Christmas, but I don’t care as long as my mom gets the care she needs. Now this is where you come in... where you can make a difference... my mom’s health insurance covers a lot of the medical expenses but at the beginning of every year in January my parents have to pay $8,500. Now I asked my mom if I can do this for her and at first she said no. She didn’t want to feel like a charity case. She didn’t think people would donate, but I managed to convince her. I hope I can try convince you to donate money to help my mom get better! Sometimes I get so sad that my mom doesn’t feel happy in her own skin... she can’t even straighten and curl mine and Alyssa’s hair without her arms getting weak and sore. I wish I could just give her my healthy muscles and bones so she wasn’t in so much pain... but I can’t. But I can raise money so she can feel better and be the same mom I know and love. Now if I had a job (I’m not old enough to get a job and we live pretty far from town in the country.) I would try to help out but I can’t... my sisters can’t either... so that’s why I’m asking you to donate a small bit of money to help out my family... because my mom’s disease effects all of us! Hopefully we will be able to have enough money for all of my amazing mom’s medical bills!!! Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and thanks so much more for donating and we all really appreciate it dearly!!! <3 I am doing this for my mom’s Christmas present since I can’t give her anything else.
