Hi, my name is Brooke. I’m entering the 8th grade with a 4.0 GPA at my neighborhood middle school and I have the awesome opportunity to take a trip with some of my classmates to Washington DC! While we are there, we will be learning the history of the White House and visiting other places like Gettysburg to learn about the war and Lincoln’s presidency. This trip is important to me because not many people get a great opportunity like this and I am so grateful. I want to go on this trip because not all people can see history right before their eyes and it is very important to be more educated about the past. I want to be able to inform others about America’s history and use what I learn in other areas of my studies. I’ve been a part of student government activities at school and I would like to continue. This experience willI help to improve my leadership skills so I can lead my peers and make a difference in my school and community. As a part of this opportunity, and because I am the oldest of 4 children in my family, I have started this campaign in hopes of minimizing the cost. Each student is responsible to raise their own money for this trip. I gratefully ask for your help and contribution to get me, an island girl, to DC! Thank you for your time.
