As a serving firefighter and parent, I am humbled by the tenacity and determination of this group, including my daughter. They have chosen to undertake this incredible challenge which has required hundreds of miles of training and days of commitment before they even begin. Additionally they are raising money for a number of beneficiaries, including the logistics, the school and the Fire Fighters Charity, something close to many of us.

In June this summer, the eleven incredible 15-year-old students from Appleford, a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school are taking on the challenge of a lifetime — cycling from John O'Groats to Land’s End, the full length of Britain, over 14 tough and inspiring days.

These young adventurers aren’t just chasing personal milestones — they’re pedaling with purpose.

They aim to:

Prove that no challenge is too big, no dream too far.

Raise funds to support their school, empowering future students with even more opportunities.

Shine a light on and raise money for the Firefighters Charity, a vital service supporting our everyday heroes.

Backed by a dedicated team of seven staff members, they’ll all cycle over 1,000 miles, navigating each twist and turn while staying in hostels and bunkhouses — showing what teamwork, resilience, and community spirit really look like.
