Disabled Family in Housing Crisis



Who I Am;

My name is Rita , and I am a 100 percent disabled person who is renting a home where other disabled members of my family live also, in a development in Cherry Hill, NJ. 

We take pride in this home. It is kept in tip top immaculate condition at all times. I just want my relatives to have a safe and secure place to live without the fear of being homeless.

I am God fearing Roman Catholic person. We feel like the Devil is chasing us just because we want to live in a beautiful home.

This home is everything I have ever dreamed of. Everyone in this house is counting on me to solve this. I am so stressed that I cannot sleep at night.

I count the minutes, days, hours, to eviction. Every knock on the door scares me. Homelessness frightens me.

About Our Disablities;

I suffer from multiple illnesses;
lymphedema,
high blood pressure,
asthma bronchitis,
vertigo migraines,
complex regional pain syndrome 1,
neuropathy,
gastroparesis,
and arthritis in my elbows, wrists, lower back.
Both ankles have been broken at different times, and I have an 8 inch plate with 8 pins remains in the right ankle from three surgeries.

These are just a few of the reasons why I take over 17 pills and capsules a day.

I long to get onto my feet and get off SSD someday.

I rely on Social Security Disability income, my daughter Kayla’s income, who suffers from severe depression, her husband Chris’s income, who suffers from diabetes, and now my diabetic sister Brenda who is 63, and also on Social Security Disablity income. Together we pay the rent here.
