Hi my name is Jose Sandoval I am 23. I have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and I have used a wheelchair since I was 9 years old. Its a disease that effects the muscle and makes them weak. So I have lost the ability to walk and now starting to lose the ability to move my hands which makes it a lot harder to use my computer and play my games. My mom and sisters help me use the restroom and help me eat. About 7 months ago I was hospitalize for the first time for cardiac arrest and put me in the hospital for 4 months because there were trying to test my lungs to see if I could breathe on my own, after many test my only option was to have a tracheostomy. ( A tracheostomy is a medical procedure that involves creating an opening in the neck in order to place a tube into a person’s windpipe.The tube is inserted through a cut in the neck below the vocal cords. This allows air to enter the lungs. Breathing is then done through the tube, bypassing the mouth, nose, and throat.) I have been lucky enough to still be able to talk and eat my favorite foods. During my time at the hospital I was only in one spot and my muscle started to tighten up because I wasn't using my hand like I was before which now has made it even harder for me to type and use my mouse for my computer. So I'm asking for some help to buy a new system that is voice command to help me out.
This fund raiser will benefit me. This campaign will provide a way for me to communicate with the world though the new voice commands on IOS for the iphones. I recently lost mobility in my hands due to my Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy so this new phone and IOS would make my everyday life better for emergency phone calls or just being able to scroll the pages on a given app. This support would make my year by giving me hope.
